I don't remember who - but it had to have been Mara Liasson or Mort Kondrake (the liberalish female talking heads at FOXNews all sound alike after a while) - but one of them said on Brit Hume's Special Report last night that this was the best time for Mark Warner to drop out. Ummm...no it wasn't. Even if he is sincere in his desire to spend more time with his family and even if he told his wife and children of this decision last night, it makes no sense to go public with it before the midterm elections. November 8th would have been the best time to announce it, because between now and election day he would be raising funds and endorsing candidates as possible-Presidential-nominee Mark Warner rather than maybe-kinda-sorta-future-Virginia-Senator-but-most-likely-just-prematurely-retired Mark Warner. Which one would you rather have at your campaign rally?
I agree with a comment I saw on some random blog that was linked to RCP (so I am not gonna back track and find a link, but): just last month Mark Warner travelled to Manhattan to do some fundraising and gladhanding - and maybe Hillary showed him some Vince Foster photos and he decided getting in Hillary's way wasn't worth winding up in a park missing the back of his skull. Just a thought.
Regardless of the real reason Mark Warner is gone, I am happy. One more obstacle removed from SheBeast's path to the nomination. Now we will watch as she dispatches the Breck Girland all te other wannabe pretenders. Then we will all get to watch as Godzillary goes down in spectacular defeat in the Electoral College only to return to the Senate as bitterness personified. What a world.......what a world.......
